The European Commission has recently unveiled new artificial intelligence tools and features on its AI-on-Demand platform, offering an AI marketplace, a low-code development tool, and secure solutions for generative AI and large language models. The platform, developed jointly by the EU-funded projects AI4Europe and DeployAI, provides trustworthy AI tools and solutions to both researchers and industry stakeholders. This new platform aims to accelerate the adoption of AI technologies across Europe and foster innovation among research institutions, businesses, and public sector organisations.

The AI-on-Demand platform equips researchers with comprehensive datasets, tools, and computing resources, while SMEs, businesses, and public sector organisations can access trusted tools, resources, and ready-to-use AI modules tailored for industry needs. Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy, stated that the platform represents another step towards putting Europe at the forefront of innovation and becoming an AI continent, as outlined in the AI Continent Action Plan. The Commission invites AI developers to register their tools and solutions on the platform, increasing their visibility across a growing network of AI innovators and establishing direct connections with enterprises seeking deployment-ready AI solutions.

The DeployAI project – which officially launched during an inaugural meeting in Berlin on February 29 to March 1, 2024, under the European Commission's "Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Innovation and Excellence" unit – is supported by €28 million in funding and brings together 28 partners from 13 European countries. A key objective of the platform is to provide a central access point to a common European AI toolbox, with the compilation of trusted AI resources accelerating the adoption of secure and scalable AI applications across European industries and the public sector.
