On 23rd May 2025, Perplexity officially launched Perplexity Labs, an early-access environment specifically developed for business users that enables them to create customised AI solutions with their own organisational data. The system is built on a proprietary 100 billion parameter language model called Perplexity Labs LLM, which offers functionality significantly exceeding the capabilities of the company's previous online research assistant, including document analysis, automated report generation, and advanced strategic and financial analysis optimised specifically for corporate use requirements.
The Perplexity Labs system focuses on five key business application areas: market research and competitor analysis, financial analysis and investment opportunity evaluation, sales and marketing strategy development, product development and innovation process support, and operational efficiency improvement. According to Aeron Buchanan, Perplexity's product manager, the unique value of Labs lies in its ability to integrate corporate documents, internal data, and the latest market information, while ensuring response precision through an advanced multi-step reasoning process. During the closed testing phase, the platform was implemented at 28 companies, with preliminary results showing an average time saving of 37% for research and analysis tasks, and a 42% increase in the accuracy of strategic decisions compared to traditional methods.
Using Perplexity Labs requires a subscription, available as an add-on service to the Perplexity Pro package for $40 per month, with custom pricing for enterprise clients depending on the number of users and data integration requirements. The platform is currently in an early access phase, with full market launch expected in the fourth quarter of 2025, when the company plans to provide API access in addition to the current functionality, and replace the original 100 billion parameter model with a more advanced 175 billion parameter version that has demonstrated 26% better performance in executing business-related tasks during testing.
