The German company DeepL, previously best known for its AI-based translation services, announced on 3 September 2025 the launch of DeepL Agent, an AI agent designed specifically for enterprise users. The newly introduced product is capable of automating repetitive, time-consuming corporate tasks and, by responding to natural language commands, can transfer data between different systems. With this move, DeepL has entered into competition with major AI players such as Anthropic, OpenAI and Microsoft, which are also targeting business clients.
DeepL Agent functions as a computer-based assistant that mimics human behaviour through virtual keyboard, browser and mouse control, and can be applied across various corporate areas from sales and marketing to customer service. Chief Executive Jarek Kutylowski explained that the system is based both on the company’s own language models and on models from external providers, and that early tests indicate employees could save several hours a day by automating routine processes. Due to its European roots, DeepL places particular emphasis on data protection: it has built a multi-layered security system that provides users and administrators with direct control over the outputs of the AI assistant.
The introduction of DeepL Agent comes at a time when AI company valuations are rising steeply, exemplified by Anthropic’s completion of a 13 billion dollar Series F funding round on 2 September 2025, which raised its valuation to 183 billion dollars on a post-investment basis. Although technology firms are increasingly preparing for stock market launches – with fintech company Klarna and cryptocurrency exchange Gemini both disclosing the details of their initial public offerings (IPOs) in early September 2025 – Kutylowski was cautious about any potential DeepL listing, stating that this was not a short-term plan under consideration. DeepL Agent is currently available in beta to selected clients and will become generally accessible in the coming months.
