Claude Opus 4.5 became available on 24 November 2025, marking Anthropic's third major AI model launch in two months. The model is the best in the world for coding, agents, and computer use, whilst being meaningfully better at everyday tasks like deep research and working with slides and spreadsheets. This release represents a significant milestone in the competitive AI landscape, as Opus 4.5 faces competition from OpenAI's GPT 5.1, released on 12 November, and Google's Gemini 3, released 18 November.
The model's reported performance gains seem impressive: Opus 4.5 is the first model to score over 80% on SWE-Bench Verified, a respected coding benchmark. The model also leads in computer use capabilities, reaching 66.3% on OSWorld. In addition to the improved performance, Anthropic also cut token usage in half compared to its Opus 4.1 model, leading to a substantial reduction in API costs. Pricing is now $5 per million input tokens and $25 per million output tokens. Alongside the model launch, Anthropic expanded availability of Claude for Chrome and Claude for Excel—previously in pilot—with the Chrome extension now available to all Max users and the Excel integration available to Max, Team, and Enterprise users.
Opus 4.5 represents a step forward in what AI systems can do and a preview of larger changes to how work gets done.
